Lewisham town centre developments: October update

Two major Lewisham town centre developments see work continue as we approach 2024.

The biggest site in town at Lewisham Gateway Phase two is now delayed well into 2024 after the contractor in charge of cladding exited the job.

While certain external elements look complete, others are a long way off.

Upper floors look complete. Commercial space is another story

There’s still no news on the palnned cinema either after proposed operator Empire entered administration.

The block lining Rennell Street is far from finished in contrast to an adjacent tower.

Nowhere near finished

On the other side of the station there’s Meyer Homes’ site on the former Tesco car park.

These blocks below look all but complete.

Across the site 365 homes have been built with the tallest structure topping out at 34-floors in height.

Before development commenced

The tallest tower of this development has a few bits and pieces of cladding still needing to be applied, and work is ongoing at street level.

Tesco to rear

Next up in the area is demolition of the adjacent Tesco and a new store planned within a mixed-use site.

Astir are developing build-to-rent proposals. That’s some way off yet though.
