Deptford development at Sun Wharf set to start soon

Work on a sizable development beside Deptford Creek looks like moving ahead as construction plans are submitted to Lewisham council.

Bellway and Peabody are behind the project which has seen little progress in recent years.

Now a construction report has been submitted which states “The proposed construction period is expected to start in Q3 2023 and to last for a period of around 48 months”. Details are here.

The tallest block will top out at 19 storeys with a total of “220 residential units (C3 Use Class) and 1,132 sqm of commercial floorspace (Use Class E) plus 311sqm of commercial floorspace (Use Class E) in a container building.”

A walkway beside the Creek is also promised. The site was formerly home to Jones.

Current building on site.

It’s also beside the railway arches on the line to London Bridge. It’ll rise behind in this view:

The creek has changed massively in the past 10-20 years, with other sites set to follow in years to come including a student tower on the Greenwich borough side.

A tower beside the Laban Centre on the Lewisham side hasn’t moved forward for some years now.
