Greenwich lantern procession and Christmas light switch-on this week
A parade through Greenwich town centre and the market’s Christmas light switch-on is set to be take place tomorrow (Wednesday 15th November).
The event will run from 4pm to 6pm with organisers stating that the lantern parade with start at the visitor centre at the Old Royal Naval College.
The Mayor of Greenwich and brass band Danger Goat will then head around the Old Royal Naval College site then through Greenwich town centre towards Cutty Sark Gardens where Christmas lights will be switched on.
It then moves onto Greenwich Market for further celebrations including their light switch on, followed by live music including the brass band.
Father Christmas will be at the market in his grotto with support for Greenwich and Bexley Hospice.
Why only until 6pm? It’s so early as once I finish work there’s no time to take the kids and they’d love it. I understand the parade ending but can’t they keep the festive spirit with market stalls and bands until 7-8pm at least?
