Sidcup Marks & Spencer development set to open from February 2024
One of the more enduring posts on this site in terms of long-term views has been a forthcoming mixed-use development beside Sidcup station containing a Marks and Spencer and 59 flats.
The last update was in August this year and since then developer Purelake have stated that homes are “due for completion in February 2024” with that “an M&S Food store will also be opening here in 2024.”
The Marks and Spencer shop will be a food store and replaces a former co-op.
The site has been named Insignis Point by the developer.
M&S footfall
It should see decent footfall given its location beside the station. There’s also a Premier Inn hotel and Met Police office block nearby.
Another development is also underway a short distance north.
That was approved in 2020 on the former site of an Odeon with a frontage resembling what stood on site. It’s being completely rebuilt to the rear.
As these things tend to go full circle, after that was approved Sidcup gained a new cinema in the town centre in a more prominent location.
The new cinema is also tailored to today’s market with smaller screening rooms compared to the vast rooms of old.
The cinema also includes new homes and a library, which in turn has seen the former library in line for replacement with approved plans for 32 homes on site.
