Proposal for new homes at Woolwich MOT Centre

Plans have been submitted for a new block of flats on Hillreach in Woolwich.

This isn’t the first application for the site near the MOD barracks beside the former Kings Arms pub which was redeveloped over recent years.

Home totals have been whittled down from 23 to 17 compared to 2019 plans covered here.

2019 plans were rejected

A now-closed pub called The Village Blacksmith sits beside the site to the west.

Plans for a Tesco Express the other side below new housing were approved but little has happened since.

Planned frontage from 2022 application

The entire road has seen substantial changes over the past decade with more to come. Greenwich Council plans homes via their off-shoot developer Meridian a short distance to the east, while the MOD plan to vacate the barracks with the potential for thousands of new homes.

A previously mentioned date was 2028, with news of a masterplan being drawn up earlier this year.

Plans for the new block on Hillreach can be viewed on the Greenwich Council planning website here.

As a private renter living costs are very high and ads bring in relatively little to the site. I run it alone, and you can support me through Paypal with a one-off or monthly donation here

Another option is via Patreon with offers monthly payments by clicking here

Finally there's the Ko-fi option

Many thanks

There's also a Facebook page for the site here

I've lived in south east London most of my life growing up in Greenwich borough and working in the area for many years. The site has contributors on occasion and we cover many different topics. Living and working in the area offers an insight into what is happening locally.
