Greenwich Peninsula’s new supermarket near Cable Car set to open soon

Further details are in for the upcoming opening of a new Sainsbury’s supermarket on Greenwich peninsula.

The shop will open next door to Tesco between the o2 and Cable Car.

Signage in latest application

A new application covering branding and signage shows a cash point will be installed.

Tesco can become absolutely rammed at event times and they’re be no shortage of customers. Though it’s not just handy for those visiting the o2, as housing in the area continues to rise.

Plot 19.05 now underway.

A nearby block will see almost 500 homes. For those to and from the tube Sainsbury’s will be handily located.

In recent months a nearby block (see below) saw detailed approval given.

Tower on right approved

And to the west of the o2 there’s further high rises from developer Knight Dragon that have seen detailed plans approved.

Recently approved Greenwich tower

Last but not least is the student tower beside the o2 that’s one of the few blocks in the vicinity not from Knight Dragon.

That too has seen detailed plans approved in recent months.

Approved

With all those new homes plus thousands attending nightly for events, the shop should do pretty well.
