Sidcup development beside station near completion – but no sign of M&S
A development beside Sidcup station looks all but complete as final fit-out work continues.
It’s supposed to see an Marks & Spencer but there was no signs up stating they’re coming – and emails to both Marks and Spencer and the developer have been met with silence.

There’s also been no sign of any applications for store signage submitted to Bexley Council that I’ve seen and a search of M&S’s jobs page shows nothing for Sidcup.
Here’s a render of how the site is supposed to look when fully complete.

This is not to say it isn’t coming but the silence is odd.
Anyway, as for the flats above, 59 are located within the block next to the Iron Horse pub.

It’s seconds from Sidcup station as well as the recently introduced Superloop bus route SL3 which will carry residents on a limited-stop service directly to Bexleyheath station, Abbey Wood station as well as Bromley in the other direction.
During off-peak times a bus to Abbey Wood for the Elizabeth line will take around 20 minutes.
Southeastern used to run loop line services all-day to Abbey Wood but this was withdrawn save for a scant few in the peaks which take around 25 minutes.

Another development is underway a short distance north at the former leisure centre site. This was first covered on this site back in 2019.
The frontage is being retained while all-new builds are underway behind.
It wouldn’t be a great surprise to see further developments proposed around the area in the near future.
There’s some high density buildings including Marlowe House tower occupied by the Met Police which holds their museum collection, as well as an adjacent hotel.

They would likely facilitate mid-rise blocks in certain locations. I can’t see the tower ever going. If the met left it’d be ripe for residential conversion.
It will be a shame if M&S or another store does not open on this site. The store is convenient for both new residents and commuters using Sidcup Station. Mixed use developments are also popular especially in town centres.
The M&S and Sainsburys Local Stores located close to the Elizabeth Line Station in Woolwich are very popular with commuters and residents living on the Royal Arsenal Development.
The M&S coming soon signage/window coverings are up.. The site was pre-let to M&S for 20yrs with no break clauses.
