Greenwich Gourmet Burger Kitchen site to become Slim Chickens

The former Gourmet Burger Kitchen site in Greenwich town centre is to become a branch of Slim Chickens.

Both the GBK and Slim Chickens’ UK operations are run by the same company.

Boparan Group also operate a number of brands including Giraffe and Carluccios, and purchased 35 GMK sites in 2020.

The company’s owner also owns the 2 sisters chicken production company which operate food and chicken production sites.

A planning application for the change of signage can be seen here.

I've lived in south east London most of my life growing up in Greenwich borough and working in the area for many years. The site has contributors on occasion and we cover many different topics. Living and working in the area offers an insight into what is happening locally.

  • Same is currently happening with the former GBK in Bromley.

  • A good upgrade, and no great loss to see the back of GBH. Slim’s are excellent – a chicken shop for adults, hopefully as good as the one in the Brunswick Centre.

    • @Charles Calthrop: it’s just a a change of operation since as John said, the Boparan Group own the burger chain, Slim chicken and a number of other eateries.

  • Shame no independent restaurants can survive with the current rents. It disappoints me that all town centres are looking the same these days with no character or local eateries.

  • The council has apparently just refused the application due to the apparent size of the signage..
