Stratford station’s new entrance misses opening date – but completion looks imminent

Work to construct a new entrance to Stratford station beside Jubilee line platforms has failed to meet its opening target.

As recently as last month Transport for London stated it would open by the end of the 2023/24 financial year.

While it’s still not complete work has progressed a fair amount in recent weeks and it’s looking a whole lot more finished than in early March.

That wavy fence didn’t make the cut.

This entrance will help assist those living in and around the Carpenter’s estate. In recent weeks major proposals to demolish much of the estate as well as refurbishing one tower was approved.

The estate’s 710 homes will increase to 2,150.

The entrance will also benefit those living in proposed homes along Stratford High Street. Funding came form Newham Council, the Greater London Authority plus the London Legacy Development Corporation.

  • The new entrance/exit provides a shorter link with The London Stadium.
