Plans for new Sidcup pub submitted
An application has been made to open a micropub in Sidcup at Marechal Niel Parade.
If that location means little to you it’s pretty much halfway between New Eltham and Sidcup and close to Footscray Road. It’s next to the 321 and 233 bus routes which is handy to get home from after a few.
Outdoor seating with an awning covering tables and drinkers is planned.
It’ll be the latest micropub locally as numbers continues to grow. While traditional pubs have struggled, micropubs seem a great success story. Micropubs are conversions of shop units to small scale pub, often focused on a wide range of beers from smaller breweries.
In keeping with most micropubs opening hours are more limited and a closure time of 10pm is proposed Monday to Saturday with 8pm closing on Sunday.
Change of use to pub
The application states:
“Our proposals seek a Change of use from retail (Class A1) to Micro Pub (Class E(b) with new shopfront, the provision of an awning, and outdoor seating area’.
“A micropub is a community focused independent free house which promotes conversation between the British Brewing industry by supporting small-scale business and craft beer.
“The popularity has increased within the borough and is proving to be a success amongst the local communities and wider borough.”
Bexley borough certainly has no shortage of them and Greenwich borough has a few now. Last week one micropub in east Greenwich – the excellent River Ale House – won south east London pub of the year.
Why don’t the super loop buses stop at bus stops in Faraday Ave
