Lesser known Lewisham development now all but complete

While the substantial Lewisham Gateway site has captured much attention in the recent past another development in the town has proceeded without much comment.

This is from developer Square Roots and also in close proximity to the town centre and station at just five minutes walk away adding to numerous new developments in the town seen in recent years.

A total of 141 homes are included within the plot at Silver Road on what was formerly Axion House.

Images in today’s post are from Lewisham shopping centre car park which offers a good overview of changes across the town.

I’m surprised something hasn’t yet been proposed on the car park seen above.

The car park itself is set to come down as part of a major redevelopment project covering the 1970s centre but not the former Citibank tower.

Other major developments in the area include a recently completed tower north of Lewisham station alongside smaller blocks.

Forthcoming plans include demolition of the Tesco supermarket and we should hear more details of that in 2024. A replacement Tesco will be included.

Developer Astir have signed an agreement with the supermarket group.

In addition Lewisham retail park is also due for redevelopment comprising a mix of shops and homes but L&G have done little for some years.
