Bromley Central library closure and relocation: Council seek feedback

Former Top Shop unit will become main borough library

Bromley Council are seeking feedback on plans to close the existing Central Library and move into a former Top Shop unit.

The decision to move was announced in October 2023 with the library moving from its current site in a building shared with the Churchill Theatre.

A survey is running until 15th July on proposals and what users would like to see.

Theatre demolition

The current building including the Churchill Theatre is set for demolition.

Theatre and library on Bromley High Street

Bromley Council have stated the 1970s structure is “reaching the end of its life”. They state a new theatre will be built on site.

Moving the library is put at £15.5 million with an expected opening in spring 2026.
