Greenwich and Docklands Festival is back and starts today

The Greenwich and Docklands Festival is back and set to run until 8th September.

The event kicks off today (Friday 23rd August) with a performance of Silence! at the Royal Artillery Barracks in Woolwich.

Cutty Sark Gardens in Greenwich will see events

It starts at 8:30pm and lasts 50 minutes with a mix of pyrotechnics and percussion. Food and drinks stalls will be on site from 7:30pm.

It’s free and there’s no need for a ticket. Les Commandos Percu are behind the show.

This weekend then sees Thaw with a performance on a 2.7 tone block of ice suspended in the air. That’s at the University of East London campus. To reach that there’s the Elizabeth line to Custom House then a quick DLR east, or the Superloop route SL3 starting in North Woolwich will stop nearby.

Thamesmead clocktower

From then on there’s various events all over from Stratford to Abbey Wood, Deptford to Eltham and beyond.

Thamesmead will see an event at the town’s Clocktower. The full programme can be viewed here.

As a private renter living costs are very high and ads bring in relatively little to the site. I run it alone, and you can support me through Paypal with a one-off or monthly donation here

Another option is via Patreon with offers monthly payments by clicking here

Finally there's the Ko-fi option

Many thanks

There's also a Facebook page for the site here

I've lived in south east London most of my life growing up in Greenwich borough and working in the area for many years. The site has contributors on occasion and we cover many different topics. Living and working in the area offers an insight into what is happening locally.
