Greenwich pub near Cutty Sark set for revamp

The Gipsy Moth pub near the Cutty Sark is set to see a revamp according to new planning documents.

Formerly known as the Wheatsheaf the pub changed name to commemorate Sir Francis Chichester sailing around the world on Gipsy Moth IV.

Render from application

Proposed changes listed in the application include “additional glass panel to northern boundary wall, new butterfly awnings to rear garden and new fascia mounted retractable awning to side garden and all other associated external alterations”.

They include “a wider refurbishment of the pub but these alterations, to the internal areas of the public house, relate to the redecoration and replacement of furniture only.

“They form part of a wider new interior design treatment of the property, which aims to refresh and update the pub to ensure that it continues to attract customers.”

Rejection

Earlier this year a new pub plan beside the Thames a short distance away was rejected.

Meanwhile refurbishment plans went in for the Spanish Galleon.

  • There is no shortage of nice pubs in Greenwich, they must have stiff competition. Glad to see some pubs thriving while others are closing shop. I guess the tourist trade helps at that location.
