Transport for London’s promotion of new London Overground line names moves ahead
Efforts to promote individual London Overground line names are moving ahead after a recent hacking impacted roll-out.
All lines now have their own names and Transport for London were ready to roll-out promotion this autumn. Signs began to appear in selective locations.
Then the cyber attack caused problems, as noted in recent TfL reports.
Things are starting to return to normal with oyster card applications now open again, and a link-up has been announced between the Barclays’s Women’s Super League and the Lioness Line.
If you’ve not got to grips with new names yet (yours truly still hasn’t) the Lioness line is the Watford DC line that runs between Euston and Watford via Wembley.
The partnership will see all top flight women’s Super League games played in main stadiums for the first time.
Station announcements will also be made by top players.
Emma Strain, Customer Director at TfL, said: “We’re working with Barclays Women’s Super League to mark this historic weekend for women’s football as it comes as we get ready to launch the London Overground Lioness line soon.
“The line honours the historic achievements and lasting legacy of the England women’s football team from 2022, which you can see today with tens of thousands of fans watching women’s football in the capital this weekend.
“We hope that fans travelling to these matches will take a moment to appreciate how women’s sport continues to grow, inspire and bring communities together.”
All round it’s a win-win situation this news; some great publicity for women’s football and a sign that the back-room problems within TfL are finally being overcome.
Goblin Line R.I.P
So when are TfL going to start rebranding the 6 London Overground lines that we are now in November. Will it happen this weekend or next week. Might as well do it straight away. And to let passengers know that the 6 Overground lines have now been renamed and have new colour schemes.
Along with the 6 London Overground lines to be renamed and rebranded with their own new colour schemes. TfL could allow more extra trains to be built especially few more Class 710/3s for the proposed West London Orbital line. That would see the electrification of the Dudding Hill line and the freight line between South Acton-Brentford to be electrified.
And few extra Class 710/3s for the Euston-Watford DC line (Lioness Line) and few extra Class 710/2s for the Gospel Oak-Barking line (Suffragette Line) and few extra Class 710/1s for the Lea Valley lines (Weaver Line).
And 1 extra Class 710/1 for the Romford-Upminster line (Liberty Line).
