Another closure of Blackwall tunnel southbound this weekend

It’s time for another full weekend closure of the Blackwall tunnel southbound as part of Silvertown tunnel work.

Transport for London had initially stated a closure this coming weekend between 11pm on Saturday 16 November and ending at 5am on Monday 18 November.

However TfL now state another closure is required, stating “a review of the programme has meant that Riverlinx now require the contingency date of Friday 15 November (2300 – 0600)”.

These closures impact those heading southbound towards Greenwich and the northbound tunnel will remain open.

Earlier this week this site looked at the road layout in Greenwich which now appears all but complete.

Buses

108 bus in Greenwich to Stratford. Not this weekend

Bus route 108 will be split throughout the weekend with a shuttle between Lewisham and North Greenwich while north of the Thames it’ll run between Canning Town to Stratford International.

Passenger can use the Jubilee Line between North Greenwich and Canning Town to connect the gap. They’ll be no charge applied when tapping in state TfL.

They’ve warned of additional traffic heading through the Rotherhithe tunnel and approaches to the Woolwich ferry.

Silvertown tunnel is due to open next year with tolls applied to both Blackwall and the new route below the Thames.
