Greenwich Millennium Village blocks rise
Further residential blocks being built as part of Greenwich Millennium Village continue to rise in the latest phase of construction.
This is blocks in phase four which covers the south western corner of the site.
Like previous phases its mid-rise buildings and very much in keeping with recent sober appearances.
Gone are the exuberant colours of earlier phases.
A total of 203 homes are currently underway leaving further plots to the south east to complete.
Upon completion GMV should total 3,000 homes.
It may end up taking 35 years to fully build on Greater London Authority land since government body English Partnerships purchased 300 acres in 1997.
Compare that to post-war when 3,000 home sites would be built out in five years. Extremely slow build outs are a key reason we have a housing crises.
A key reason is waiting for a private developer to build out the site in a piecemeal fashion.
