Southeastern Woolwich line closed due to level crossing issue at Charlton

A problem with level crossing barriers in Charlton has seen the line closed.

Southeastern and Thameslink state the line is shut in both directions. Network Rail staff are en route to fix the problem.

Disruption is expected not only on the Woolwich line but also other Metro routes due to the interlinked natures of services.

Trains are also being diverted via other lines to Dartford. Tickets are being accepted on buses.

Charlton level crossing is the closest to central London still in operation.

As a private renter living costs are very high and ads bring in relatively little to the site. I run it alone, and you can support me through Paypal with a one-off or monthly donation here

Another option is via Patreon with offers monthly payments by clicking here

Finally there's the Ko-fi option

Many thanks

There's also a Facebook page for the site here

I've lived in south east London most of my life growing up in Greenwich borough and working in the area for many years. The site has contributors on occasion and we cover many different topics. Living and working in the area offers an insight into what is happening locally.

  • As of 1810 it’s re-opened.

  • And then of course there was a signalling failure! My daughter’s train stuck at Maze Hill for nearly an hour.
