Elizabeth line suspended due to ventilation issues

It’s not been a good couple of days for transport in London with the Elizabeth line currently not running through the core due to ventilation issues.

It follows last night’s closure of the entire eastern half of the Jubilee line due to flooding at Canary Wharf.

It appears trains halted around 30 minutes ago in central London. Abbey Wood, for example, is seeing numerous cancellations as trains are not arriving and thus there’s none to depart.

Information is sparse from TfL except to state “No service between Abbey Wood and Paddington due to a tunnel ventilation problem. Tickets valid on London Underground.”

That’s not much use to people in south east London. Yesterday’s Jubilee line closure saw extensive ticket acceptance on buses, Thameslink and Southeastern.

According to this link a company called Zitron is in charge of ventilation issues and operates a “24 Hour On Call service for immediate reaction in case of high and critical alarms in the Network”.

Finally there's the Ko-fi option

I've lived in south east London most of my life growing up in Greenwich borough and working in the area for many years. The site has contributors on occasion and we cover many different topics. Living and working in the area offers an insight into what is happening locally.

  • Hehe, Zitron also designed the through-and-through ventilation for Silvertown Tunnel.

  • Must be sorted as trains are running OK from Abbey Wood and not mentioned on Tfl.gov.uk.
