Severe traffic delays around Dartford after tunnel shut

An accident this afternoon has seen one Dartford tunnel closed leading to severe traffic delays on the M25 and around Dartford itself.

The west bore tunnel at the Dartford Crossing has been closed since a collision just before 2pm. Traffic England currently put delays at two hours.

The M25 northbound is backed up until Swanley with the A2 at a standstill in each direction towards the M25 junction.

Local streets across Dartford are gridlocked with buses seeing heavy delays including both TfL routes and Arriva’s Dartford services, as well as Fastrack routes.

Crayford is slow going and we normally see traffic starting to back up in Greenwich as drivers divert, with that starting to now happen. Bus delays are likely to be seen on local routes.
