Elizabeth line down again: This time with electricity supply issues

Further problems have hit the Elizabeth line this morning with electricity supply issues to the west impacting the line.

There’s currently no service between Hayes & Harlington and Reading and between Heathrow Terminals 2 & 3 and Heathrow Terminal 5.

Trains on the rest of the route are badly affected with services from Abbey Wood via the Canary Wharf branch as well as Shenfield heading to the west cancelled.

The electricity problem follows days after a ventilation issue caused the entire line to be suspended.

Back in November the line was suspended for the entire day after a complete loss of signalling.

Today’s issues in the west are also impacting Great Western Railway services.

At the time of writing a reduced service is operating to and from the eastern branches only as far as Paddington with a number of services cancelled.

  • Yesterday was quite bad – a platform fault at Paddington around 9am saw only 1 train in 10 being allowed to continue on to Heathrow. At one point four or five trains were forced to terminate at Paddington, and the platform staff had to check the carriages before shutting off the train and letting the one behind it debark. Leaving Woolwich at 7.45 I arrived at Heathrow a little after 2hrs
