Tottenham’s tallest tower now rising at Heart of Hale development

Two towers beside Tottenham Hale station are now on the rise with the bigger of the two set to reach more than 30-storeys.

At around 130 metres the taller of the two will sit above those already constructed nearby, with the area having seen a number of blocks constructed over recent years.

Towers starting to rise last summer beside prior development

Towers are located directly beside Tottenham bus station and Tottenham Hale station. In advance of the towers £30 million was spent on station improvement work including a new entrance.

Alongside station works, services were boosted with track laid for a Stratford to Meridian Water shuttle which opened in 2019.

Those transport links have been a catalyst behind wide-ranging redevelopment either side of the station.

It does however include on the worst buildings in London to the west of the station with a hulking mass of a student block.

To the south a large retail park also resides seconds from excellent transport links and looks a likely candidate for redevelopment in future for mixed housing and retail.

The rail shuttle enhanced what is already a fast and frequent rail service from Liverpool Street to various areas of Essex and Cambridge.

Greater Anglia are also in the process of introducing new trains across their network. However stock is rather cramped with seating bays containing three seats. Quite an odd layout for trains often operating as Metro-type services.

Tottenham Hale also sees Victoria line services.

In total the Heart of Hale project will see 1,032 homes.

I've lived in south east London most of my life growing up in Greenwich borough and working in the area for many years. The site has contributors on occasion and we cover many different topics. Living and working in the area offers an insight into what is happening locally.

  • The Greater Anglia trains are primarily configured for fast commuter services to Hertford East, Bishops Stortford and Cambridge, hence the seating arrangement (and toilets). We’re stuck with that at TH until it’s eventually part of Crossrail 2 (or an Overground service).
