Greenwich’s National Maritime Museum revamp continues
Work to transform and renovate parts of the Maritime Museum continue as a glazed ceiling is replaced.
If you’ve seen a big crane over the museum this is why. The central court, Great Map and galleries beneath the glass roof are all currently shut.

That means no access from Trafalgar Road until summer 2025.
Entrance to the museum is via park-side doors beside the ‘Ship in a Bottle’.
A glazed roof covering a large exhibition space on what was a former gymnasium was installed at the turn of the millennium but has seen numerous problems in recent years with leaks.
Glazing had also cracked and problems with vents impacted temperature management within the environment. It’s now seeing complete replacement.
While works are underway the museum recently submitted separate plans to alter the face of the central courtyard alongside a name change.
Good to see works ate progressing well on the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich. Such an important feature for the Royal Borough of Greenwich and the Boroughs rich history.
Always a great place to visit for locals and tourists alike.
