Further consultation on Lewisham College redevelopment in Deptford

A further round of consultation is to be held on plans to demolish Lewisham college buildings in Deptford.

Developer RER London are considering around 800 homes on site. Course and student son the Deptford site are relocated to the Lewisham Way campus.

A first round of consultation was undertaken back in July 2024. The local MP put up a video of herself on social media on site complaining about possible social housing levels, yet it’s her party now in power that has the ability to either:

  1. Increase the budget for new council/social homes which would feed into and impact sites such as this, and/or
  2. Alter existing viability rules that set the number of “affordable” homes on sites built by private developers

The site sits around Deptford Creek and near residential plans at the Bird’s Nest pub.

Another nearby development will see 231 student rooms at Art Hub.

Events this week covering the college site will be held in Deptford at the Cockpit on 18-22 Creekside:

  • Wednesday 5th March, 5.00pm – 8.00pm
  • Thursday 6th March, 5.00pm – 8.00pm

As a private renter living costs are very high and ads bring in relatively little to the site. I run it alone, and you can support me through Paypal with a one-off or monthly donation here

Another option is via Patreon with offers monthly payments by clicking here

Finally there's the Ko-fi option

Many thanks

There's also a Facebook page for the site here

I've lived in south east London most of my life growing up in Greenwich borough and working in the area for many years. The site has contributors on occasion and we cover many different topics. Living and working in the area offers an insight into what is happening locally.

  • How about the owner of this site cleaning up the outside of these buildings while they wait for their application to be decided ?
I have been told there was some clean up a while back but last time I looked they were covered in graffiti.
